Emmanuel Macron wants non-EU countries to be barred from entering into the Pesco initiative and keep them distanced from the defence projects. This move from Macron is expected to have intensified the Nato countries who have warned him of creating serious security consequences. Conservative MEPs’ chief said avoiding Nato allies from entering into defence contracts has no meaning.
U.S. is also very much furious about this proposal and sent a letter to the EU chiefs advising them to think carefully before taking a decision related to this. German Minister Ursula von der Leyen and French ministers have talked about cooperating with EU and even talking about the European independence repeatedly.
