French president Emmanuel Macron suggested that Europe, and implicitly France, should be able to protect themselves from U.S.A, Russia or China.
With the occasion of the 100th year celebration of the WW1 armistice, Macron proposed the idea of emulating the British colonies actions from 1776 and declare military independence from the Integrated Military Command of NATO.
However, this seemed to upset president Trump, who found this proposal insulting and considers that Europe still has a debt to pay to NATO, before setting in motion other plans.
” Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the U.S. subsidizes greatly!”
