Michael Cohen gets 3 years prison sentence

Trump’s former private attorney Michael Cohen was sentenced Wednesday by a federal judge in New York to three years in prison and more than $1 million in restitution has been imposed on him. He is scheduled to surrender next year on March 6.

Just ahead of the sentencing he told to U.S. District Judge William Pauley III that he believed his duty was to cover up dirty deeds of the president. He said blind loyalty to the president has paved his path towards darkness and not light.

However, Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani contradicts saying Cohen was not loyal. He cited the secret recordings of Trump done by Cohen and later leaked to press.

Very recently Trump said Cohen lied and deserves complete sentence.

Cohen pleaded guilty to tax evasion, lying to Congress about Trump’s past dealings in Russia and finance violations.

He took full responsibility for each act and said, “the sooner I am sentenced, the sooner I can return to my family.”

His family members including his mother, father and in-law were present in the courtroom All were very emotional and shocked after the sentencing as they may have expected a much lighter sentence. They hugged him and engaged in long embraces.
