Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou treated inhuman in Canada jail: China

Huawei Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Meng Wanzhou is not being treated properly in Canada detainment alleges China. He is not getting proper medical care and this is something inhuman, violates human rights.

Meng Wanzhou, daughter of Huawei’s founder, was arrested last week in Canada on December 1 while changing plane in Vancouver. She is facing extradition to the US and if convicted there for charges of conspiracy to defraud several financial institutions, the 46-year-old could get up to 30 years of jail term.

China has called for immediate release of Meng Wanzhou on medical grounds.

The Huawei executive fears her health could deteriorate being in Canada jail and argue should be released on bail.

Following her arrest she was taken to a hospital for hypertension treatment.

Arrest of Meng Wanzhou has further accelerated tension between US and China amid both the sides negotiating to end trade war.

The arrest coincided with Trump and China’s Xi Jinping meeting in Argentina where the two powerful economies talked about resolving trade war. It resulted with roiling of stock markets and condemnation from Chinese authorities.

Warrant for her arrest was issued on August 22.

Meanwhile, Huawei has released a statement that the company is confident legal systems of Canada and US would reach the right conclusion.
