There is a big political disaster happening in Sri Lanka in the past few months as the present president of the country Maithripala Sirisena appointed Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister by removing Ranil Wickeremesinghe. But today the appeal court has disqualified Rajapaksa from being the Prime Minister which is known to be a biggest setback for him. The notice was issued by the court against Rajapaksa in a case that was filed by around 122 MPs.
Maithripala Sirisena also tried to dissolve the Parliament before completing the term, but in this case also the court ordered to stop the preparations to move into early polls. Mahinda Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickeremesinghe are saying that they have the majority, especially Wickremesinghe who claims to have the majority of 225 members in the parliament even after his dismissal. Mahinda Rajapaksa has not accepted to get down from his post even after facing no-trust motions three times against him.
