The terrorist attack in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday is considered to be an intelligence failure as it was not communicated to the government properly. The government also accepted that there was intelligence failure as they failed to take action even after getting prior information. One reason for this is due to the rift between PM Ranil Wickramasinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena.
Both the leaders have become foes after President Sirisena dismissed PM Wickremesinghe last year. But the court had ordered to reappoint the Prime Minister which has led to this division. There has been no communication between both these leaders which is also considered to be the reason behind the attack.
