Pavlo Klimkin, the foreign minister from Ukraine said there will not be any registered observers featuring from Russia in the presidential elections to be held this year. He said this will be their political stand in the election which is can also make Russia more aggressive. A letter has been sent to ODIHR related to this and only Central Election Commission along with Foreign Affairs Ministry has the right to decide this, he added.
According to Klimkin Russia can do anything, but our stand will be this. He also expects CEC not to register any official observers from Russia as it is the right thing to do legally and morally as well. There will not be any disagreement related to this and there will not be any place for those who handle elections illegally, he said. During a press conference Klimkin had said this and the conference also featured Tomas Petricek from Czech Republic.
